Daniel Kanu focused on himself amid Walsall's previous loan striker successes

Walsall loanee Daniel Kanu says the club's previous loan successes persuaded him to sign, but that he is focused on himself rather than what went before.

The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Charlton Athletic, scored his first goal for the Saddlers with the match-winner against Chesterfield at Bescot on Saturday.

Freddie Draper and Nathan Lowe previously enjoyed goal-laden loans at Walsall during Mat Sadler's reign and Kanu has become the next promising prospect to lead the line.

Although Kanu was fully aware of the heights the pair reached, he is eager to bring his own qualities, as he looks to embrace his opportunity at WS1.

"Before you come here, you think about that [previous loan strikers such as Lowe and Draper], but once you get here, I don't thinking about it," Kanu said.

"It's just about focusing on myself and just enjoying the experiences that I get.
