Tara Salt scored a hat-trick as the home side thumped visitors Olton Ravens 7-1 in front of around 100 supporters at Castlecroft.

The match marked a new chapter for Old Wulfs, who are fielding a women's team for the first time this season.

Founded in 1922, the club started its first junior girls team six years ago and the senior women’s side is a natural progression for players who have come through the ranks.

“As a club we have gone from having no women teams to having teams at all ages, from under-7s to under-18s,” said club secretary, Stefan Aleksandrowicz.

“Now we have the women’s team. As a club we always want to give players the opportunity to progress.”

The team, managed by Stuart Adkiss, could not have made a better start to life in Division One of the Birmingham County League.

In addition to Salt’s treble, Bethany Whitehouse, Shaquanna Watson, Olivia Riese and substitute Kaja Glazer were also on target.

Aleksandrowicz added: “This was more than just a match. It was a celebration of progress, inclusivity, and opportunity for women and girls in sport.

“With the rapid growth of women’s football nationally and the inspirational success of the Lionesses, we are proud to be playing our part in shaping the future locally.”
