The 37-year-old restored the Saddlers' lead after pouncing on a mistake from Luca Hoole to score his 100th club goal, before setting up debutant Jid Okeke for a third.

Adomah, who turns 38 in December, has made 752 appearances at club level and has set his sights on chasing his next milestone.

"I'm heading towards the 800-mark for appearances so hopefully that can be the next milestone if I'm still playing," Adomah declared.

As for his performance on Tuesday, Adomah was frustrated with his contribution during the first 45 minutes.

In his view, the former Ghana international was pleased to redeem himself with a pair of match-winning moments.

"The first half was one of my worst games. I expect better from myself, it doesn't matter how old I am," he added.

"Even when I gave the ball away and Shrewsbury broke and scored, I'm thinking that I let my team down.

"So the second half, it was just rightly so, that I had to do something. I have to create or score, which I've managed to do both."

As for how he feels on the pitch, Adomah is still very much of the mindset that age is just a number.

"My fitness level has always been there, it's doesn't matter what level I play at. That's one thing I've always career with me during my career," he continued.

"As a winger, you have to track back. Back in the day, if you don't track back then you're coming off the pitch.

"That's always been instilled in me. That's where I get my fitness from just in terms of being a winger and having to go back and forth.

"I've still been able to maintain that but I was happy with my performance in the second half. I was able to express myself and get in the positions where I can create chances and score."
