Milford Hall move level with Hammerwich ahead of potential title decider
Milford Hall moved level on points with league leaders Hammerwich after a weekend heavily affected by the rain in the South Staffordshire Premier Division.
Imran Qadir high-scored with 59 runs for Hammerwich who were bowled out for 183 by Beacon Staffs, before play was abandoned at the end of the first innings.
Stephen Blews took three wickets for Beacon while Jake Cartwright and Dylan Cleaver collected two apiece to help the hosts scoop up nine points.
Meanwhile, Hammerwich took home just seven, and second-place Milford Hall made up the two points at Pelsall, which was cut short early in the second innings.
Jordan Bulpitt struck an impressive 84 from 77 balls for Milford Hall, with Niall McHale (36) and Will Davis (27) also eventually helping them sign off on 222/8.
Pelsall were given a revised target of 163 from 24 overs, but had to end the contest prematurely at 42/1 after seven overs.
In the end, Milford Hall collected nine points to head into their title clash at Hammerwich in the season's penultimate game on Saturday locked on 345 points.
Cannock gained a potentially valuable extra two points over relegation rivals Wolverhampton to edge further away from the drop zone.
Adam Peat hit an unrivalled 58 (not out) for Fordhouses, while Niall Cooper and Mubeem Rashid struck 44 apiece to help them finish on 249/9.
That meant Cannock had a revised target of 180 from 27 overs, but no less than two had been completed when play was stopped, with Cannock 17/1.
Wolverhampton were plunged further into the mire after they were bowled out for 122 in Walsall.
Walsall amassed 63/4 from just 11.3 overs before play was drawn to a halt, leaving Wolverhampton sitting second 20 points adrift of safety in second from bottom.
George Turner (48) and Stuart Fielding (37) were the standout batters for rock bottom Lichfield, who were eventually bowled out for 221.
Penkridge quickly racked up 11/1 but not even an over had been bowled in the second innings when rain put a stop to proceedings.
Elsewhere, Wombourne and Tamworth took eight points apiece to complete a full house of abandonments.
Wombourne scored well in the first innings with Michael Hill (51), Jack Hussey (40), Zachary Smith (38), Chad Brandrick (32) and Ben Hudson (31) propelling them to 249/7.
Tamworth were at 14/1 when play was cut short inside the first five overs.
