Bristol Rovers condemn abuse aimed at former Walsall star man Isaac Hutchinson and family
Bristol Rovers have stated they are working with the EFL and the police to identify individuals who have directed abuse at former Walsall man Isaac Hutchinson and his family.
Hutchinson departed Walsall to sign for Rovers last summer - after becoming a key player and scoring 23 goals in 106 outings for the Saddlers.
He made the switch to Rovers - but couldn't stop them from being relegated to League Two.
So far this season he has featured in six league games - but on deadline day he departed the club in a loan switch to Cheltenham Town.
And it has emerged that Hutchinson's family, including his partner, have become the subject of abuse from sections of the Bristol Rovers' fanbase.
It has not been made clear what the abuse directly refers to - but the club released a strong statement on Wednesday.
They said they are appalled by the abuse and they will be working with the EFL, as well as the police, to track down those responsible.
The statement read: "Bristol Rovers is appalled by abuse levelled towards Isaac Hutchinson and his family.
"The Club is firm in our zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of any kind. We will work closely with the relevant parties, including the EFL and the police, to identify the individuals involved.
"We would also urge anyone who sees, witnesses or experiences such behaviour to report it to the respective platform and the authorities immediately."
