Non-league previews: Early leaders look to extend perfect starts

Early pacesetters Dudley Town and AFC Wolverhampton City will look to maintain their perfect starts to Midland League Premier Division season.

Dudley and City - formerly AFC Wulfrunians - have won three from three so far to sit clear at the summit of the league table.

Both return home tomorrow (3pm) after Bank Holiday wins on the road to face sides not far beneath them in the standings.

Dudley welcome unbeaten Northwich Victoria to the Guardian Warehousing Arena, while City take on a Studley side who have won two of their three matches so far.

The leading duo will have a further opportunity to extend their strong start when thy are both at home Tuesday night as well - against Brocton and Lye Town, respectively.

Brocton, in the meantime, will hope to have picked up their first league win of the season when they welcome pointless Uttoxeter Town to Silkmore Lane tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Lye - who haven't tasted league success since the opening day of the season - are on the road at 1874 Northwich.

Elsewhere, Stourport Swifts host Stone Old Alleynians, while Tividale are on the road at Coton Green.

Midland One

Gornal Athletic have had a great start to the Midland One season, and will be on cloud nine if they can make it nine wins from nine.

They have been sweeping all before them so far this campaign and host a fourth-placed AFC Bridgnorth side who will be looking to bounce back from a 7-0 defeat at Knowle on Bank Holiday Monday.

Bilston Town are sixth in the standings, despite winning four and losing four so far. They welcome a Coventry Copsewood side who have had a similar start to the campaign with three wins and three defeats from six games.

Birmingham OJM are another side with four wins and four defeats from eight. They have won their last two at home, and will be aiming for the hat-trick when Stapenhill visit tomorrow.

Smethwick Rangers will be looking to climb into mid-table when they visit a Lutterworth Athletic side who start the day three points above them, but with an inferior goal difference.

Meanwhile, at the lower end of the table, Wednesfield and Cradley Town have important early-season clashes.

Fourth-bottom Wednesfield travel to fifth-bottom Nuneaton Griff, knowing they can overhaul their hosts with victory, while third-bottom Cradley host second-bottom Kirby Muxloe looking to put three points between the two struggling sides.

North West Counties League Division One South

Stafford Town have quickly bounced back from last season's play-off heartbreak in North West Counties League Division One South.

They head to Allscott Heath tomorrow, looking to make it five league wins in a row to start the season.

Eccleshall, who have won three from four so far, travel to New Mills hoping to overtake their fifth-placed hosts.

At the other end of the table, Wolverhampton Casuals can put some distance between themselves and the bottom four with victory at home to Cammell Laird 1907, while Wolverhampton Sporting will look to lift themselves out of the relegation zone with victory at Sandbach United.

Hellenic League Division One

Meanwhile, sixth-placed Bewdley Town host Hellenic League Division One leaders Malmesbury Victoria.
