West Brom favourite poised to leave after £10m deal agreed
Albion have agreed to sell winger Tom Fellows to Southampton for £10million.
The 22-year-old will head to the Saints in a deal which also includes a sell-on clause.
Fellows, who first joined the Baggies academy as an under-10, has made 96 appearances in all competitions for his boyhood club.
While his sale of such a popular figure will come as a disappointment to supporters, Albion see the deal as good business, with the fee representing pure profit.
The Baggies, who have also agreed to sell Darnell Furlong to Ipswich in a £4m deal, intend to recruit replacements for both players before Monday’s transfer deadline.
Fellows, an under-21 international, had been tracked by a number of clubs in both the Premier League and the Championship.
Southampton have moved now to complete a deal following the sale of their own academy star, Tyler Dibling, to Everton.
Dibling joined the Toffees earlier this week for an initial £35m, with the Saints quickly turning their attentions to Fellows as his replacement.
The fee for Fellows exceeds the £9m received by Albion for defender Torbjorn Heggem, who joined Bologna earlier this month. In total, the club are on course to raise £23m from players sales in the current window.
