Eccleshall hotshot Storm Stacey battles back with strong Caldwell Park performance
Storm Stacey produced one of his strongest performances of the season to climb into 11th-place in the overall rankings in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
The Eccleshall rider finished fifth over 18 laps on Saturday, and recorded a pair of sixth-place finishes 24 hours later against the country's top superbike talent at Cadwell Park, to leave him just six points adrift of the top 10.
Stacey completed 17 laps in the opening free practice on Friday and recorded his quickest time of 1:25.215s in his final lap.
He improved on that time in the afternoon session, clocking 1:26.112s to finish the day in eighth overall, before securing an excellent sixth on the grid with a time of 1:25.984s the following day.
The 21-year-old was locked in a midfield battle in the opening 18-lap race but was rewarded with fifth at the flag after a rival crashed.
More drama followed in Sunday's sprint race when Stacey charged into fourth before eventually crossing the line in sixth.
Stacey made another lightning start in the final feature race, wrestling for a place among the top four, before fading slightly in the closing stages to finish sixth once again.
