'He will get more game time' - Walsall midfielder backed to rise to the challenge

Mat Sadler says Walsall midfielder Jake Hollman will get more game time "as the weeks go on" following his summer arrival from Macarthur FC.

Hollman, who turns 25 today, has made four appearances from the bench for the Saddlers across all competitions since joining on a free transfer last month

The former Australia under-23 international has needed time to acclimatise to life in England, but Sadler has been pleased with the early signs he has showed.

"Jake Hollman is working his way to full fitness and he'll get game time as the weeks go on," Sadler said.

"I'm sure he wants to be playing every week, as every player does. We've had some really chats.

"It's new to him, the A-League wouldn't have looked like what this looked like tonight [the 1-0 defeat against Grimsby on Tuesday].

"This looked to me like a top end game between two good teams. Probably a good one for him to watch and then come in to.

"He showed some really good touches and I think Jake will be a good player for us. So for me it's just about picking and choosing the right times.

"And making sure that when we do get the chance to play him and start him, we use it, but Jamie and Charlie are playing well, so we'll use it as we see."

Walsall have added Lewis Warrington from Leyton Orient and Ryan Finnigan on loan from Blackpool in the centre of the park, while fellow summer signing Courtney Clarke has established himself as a strong midfield option.

"I definitely feel like we have really good options," Sadler added on his midfield options.

"Courtney is one who has caught the eye because he wasn't necessarily signed as an eight, but has gone on to show that he can have that versatility.

"We know Ronan Maher is chomping at the bit to play and there are good options in there.

"I don't think you're ever always satisfied and we'll keep looking at anything that might be available."
