Darts round-up: Doubles title secured after thrilling final
Jon Cunningham and Sean Griffin clinched the Tettenhall and District League Wednesday Doubles title in thrilling fashion.
The Moreton Arms duo edged out Conrad Taylor and Nathan Jones from McGhees 3-2 after a gripping final.
Cunningham and Griffin had knocked out reigning champions Paul Bromley and Phil Mayo in the semi-final.
In the Black Country Super League, leaders Allens A secured a 4-1 win over Allens C thanks to wins from Justin Evans, Rich Bowen, Martin Price and Jack Aldridge.
Their nearest challengers, Quarry Bank Liberals, beat Soccer Zone B 5-0, with Townsend Social A seeing off Whiteheath Tavern by the same scoreline.
Junction B and Dog B continue to set the pace at the top of the Wolverhampton Tuesday League.
The unbeaten duo both scored heavy wins, with Junction B hammering Junction D 7-0.
Dog B beat Three Crowns 5-2 thanks to Rich Newey, Mike Matthews, Mark Frumenzi, Phil Mayo and Paul Lucas.
Elsewhere, Wednesfield Legion came from 3-1 down to defeat Dog A 4-3. Steve Jones, Steve Hillman, John Jordan and Andy Harley were their winners.
Hotshots B were big winners in the Coseley Friday League, beating Gate B 6-0.
Things were far tighter between Wednesfield Conservatives A and Lanesfield, with the former eventually prevailing 4-2 thanks to wins for Ash Khayat, Wayne Jones, Ian Stanton and Darren Williams. Hotshots A won 4-2 away at Hurst Hill.
Glassy Junction are now two points clear at the top of the Wednesfield Sunday League after beating Wednesfield Conservatives 4-2.
Sean Bastable, Jack Aldridge, Tom Aldridge and Rob Thompson were their winners.
Wednesfield Legion ended The Dog & Partridge’s unbeaten record with a 4-2 win on the road thanks to Paul Simmons, Sid Bourne, Craig Carey and Gareth Smith. Gilberts B won 4-2 away at Three Crowns.
