The Albion youngster was tipped to make a first team breakthrough this season - however there was talk of him landing a EFL loan.

Last week though, on the back of an impressive display against Forest Green Rovers for Albion under 21s in the National League Cup, he was snapped up by the non-league club on a season long loan deal.

Whitwell was on the bench on Saturday and was again on Wednesday evening as they welcomed Sutton United.

He was introduced on the hour mark and it did not take long for the midfielder to make an impact.

Within ten minutes of coming on he found the ball in the box and held off his man to fire home.

The non-league side went on to win the game 4-0 - with Rovers fans quick to praise the playmaker for his impact with one labelling him a 'class act'.

He could now be in line for his first start as the non-league side head to FC Halifax Town.
