Aaron Pressley feels performances can improve but the way Walsall are finding ways to win games is a "positive sign" ahead of the visit of Grimsby Town to Bescot tonight.

Walsall registered their second win in three games in League Two, after beating newly-promoted Barnet 2-1 at the Hive Stadium on Saturday.

The Saddlers flew out of the traps with goals from Connor Barrett and Pressley propelling them into a 2-0 lead inside 22 minutes.

Ollie Hawkins halved the deficit on the cusp of half-time and a nail-biting second half saw Walsall eventually limp over the line.

Pressley was pleased with the character that the team showed and insists that putting points on the table is the most important thing at this stage of the season.

Pressley: "If you're not at your best, you're still picking up points"

"Any away day is difficult in this league. The way we saw the game out, although it wasn't pretty, we defended really well and showed good character," Pressley said.
