Right back Nathan Ferguson was thrust into the Albion spotlight back in 2019 under Slaven Bilic - becoming a first choice regular during their first half of the club's 19/20 promotion campaign.

A potential January move to Crystal Palace was scuppered by an injury - before Ferguson did eventually make the move after turning down a new contract.

Albion received a fee for the youngster following a tribunal - but his time at Palace was plagued by injuries and he made just one substitute appearance before being released last summer.

After a season without a club it was revealed Ferguson was on trial with Portsmouth this summer - and had been since earlier in the year.

They decided against taking him on a permanent basis - but it now appears Ferguson could land a contract at a League One side.

The Reading Chronicle has reported Ferguson is now on trial at Reading - and featured in their under 21s' 1-1 draw with Norwich on Friday.

Manager Noel Hunt explained that they were weighing up a permanent move for the ex-Baggie.

He said: "He’s a great kid and he’s been out of the game for a little while, but he can play in a number of positions. He’s in to train and we’ll see how he gets on."
