Highly rated Albion youngster Whitwell has been part of the first team set up at Albion all summer.

He was tipped for a possible first loan move to an EFL club - however it was confirmed on Friday that he was heading to the National League side on loan.

It comes after Whitwell captained Albion's under 21 side in their 2-0 defeat to Rovers in the National League Cup in midweek.

And former Premier League midfielder Savage, who took over at the club earlier this summer, is excited to see what Whitwell can produce.

He said: "Harry is an excellent addition who comes with excellent pedigree given his rise through the age groups at West Brom.

"It is a fantastic bit of recruitment. He captained the under 21s the other night and has been part of the first team all summer.

"It is great that Ian Pearce and Chris Brunt have trusted us with another one of their fantastic talents.

"He has creativity and drive from midfield, he is another brilliant signing.

"The other night he produced a piece of magic coming inside and hitting the cross bar.

"He was powerful, he drove well with the ball in central areas.

"We had a good chat with him before and after the game, and he is physically imposing.

"We wanted to recruit good personalities and good people too and he certainly fits into that category."
