The 28-year-old shone in the heart of defence with a commanding performance to help Walsall hold their Championship opponents to a goalless draw.

They were ultimately consigned to a 4-3 defeat in the penalty shoot-out, but Farquharson is hopeful that this is the moment he can finally prove his worth in Walsall colours.

"I just want to show everyone what I can do because you've seen bits of me and then I'd come out and come back in," Farquharson said.

"But I just want people to see the real me and what I'm actually capable of, which is what I showed tonight against a Championship team.

"That's what I meant by unfinished business."

'Sometimes my body is not the same as everyone else'
