Lye welcome The Racers in the preliminary round tonight (7.45pm k/o), looking to bounce back from defeat to Dudley Town in the Midland Premier League on Tuesday.

Boss Ball expects a stern challenge against the step four side, but will hope for a repeat of their clash last October, which the Flyers won 2-1.

He said: “No matter what level you play at, in the FA Cup you have got to have a bit of belief and dream.

“You have got to have those thoughts going through your head.

“Racing Club Warwick are a fantastic outfit and were a very good team last season. They have added some good players. It will be a good game.

“We are the underdogs and we are going in there and are daring to dream.”

The Flyers have begun life back at step five following relegation from the Northern One Midlands last season, and although he is targeting the top spots, Ball is hoping to stabilise.

“We have got a project for a couple of years, we are trying to build more of a football club,” he added.

“We have done a lot of work down at the ground. We are taking fairy steps at the moment.

“We need to build and help the chairman. They have brought into what I want to do at the football club. We are all pulling in the same direction.

“We are looking at being up and around it, I’m not saying we are going to win the league and get promoted, but we want to be up in the mix come April next year.”

Elsewhere, Dudley Town will look to progress into the first qualifying round of the FA Cup for the second year running. The Robins visit Coventry Sphinx after beating Heanor Town in the previous round.

In the Midland One, table toppers Gornal Athletic welcome Birstall United looking to remain unbeaten and claim their fifth win in a row.

Meanwhile, Wednesfield Community travel to AFC North Kilworth while Bilston Town host Kirby Muxloe.

Cradley Town go to Chelmsley Town, while Smethwick Rangers visit Sutton United, and Birmingham OJM entertain Saffron Dynamo.

In the North West Counties League Division One South, Wolverhampton Sporting Community will look to secure their first points of the new campaign, welcoming New Mills.

Wolverhampton Casuals will hope for back-to-back wins at Barnton and Eccleshall visit Shawbury United.
