Aston Villa in talks with Italian giants over proposed winger sale
Villa are in talks with Roma over the potential sale of Leon Bailey.
The deal being discussed for the winger is believed to be an initial loan with an obligation to buy.
Bailey has been up for sale all summer and appeared to signal a likely exit when he left the pitch in tears following the final home match of last season.
Though there has been interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey, it is Roma who are the first club to show serious interest.
Bailey is thought to be training away from the rest of Villa’s squad while discussions over a move continue.
The 28-year-old has spent the past four seasons with the club, after joining from Bayer Leverkusen for £25million.
Having struggled for consistency during the first two years, Bailey was among Villa’s best performers as they qualified for the Champions League during the 2023-24 season, signing a new contract in February of last year.
But injury issues last season saw his production levels drop considerably, as he scored only two goals in all competitions.
