Wales youth international handed West Brom debut as new boy makes first start in EFL Cup
Ryan Mason has rung six changes for his side's EFL Cup clash with Derby - and handed a surprise start to a highly rated youngster.
Mason was always expected to make changes for the clash - with fringe players hoping for a chance to impress.
The Baggies boss has gone with a mix of first team regulars, fringe players and thrown in an Albion youngster for his full debut in the absence of captain Darnell Furlong.
Full back Alex Williams has been thrust into the spotlight as he starts the clash with the Rams.
The 20 year-old Welsh international right back, has risen through the ranks at Albion and has been catching the eye at under 18 and under 21 level.
Having been involved in the first team squad in pre-season, he is now thrust into the Albion side for the clash.
And it is a much changed back four, with Joe Wildsmith coming in for Josh Griffiths, while George Campbell is handed his full competitive debut alongside Caleb Taylor at the back.
Ousmane Diakite also comes into the side, along with Mikey Johnston who was an unused substitute in the win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Derby boss John Eustace has made nine changes from their opening day defeat to Stoke.
