Stoke vs Walsall - preview: Mat Sadler backs squad depth to come to the fore
Mat Sadler says squad depth will be key in cup competitions this season, as Walsall travel to the Bet365 Stadium to face Championship side Stoke City in the Carabao Cup first round.
Walsall reached the third round for the first time in nine years last term - beating Exeter City and Huddersfield Town, before bowing out on penalties against Leicester City at Bescot.
They had initially held Leicester, who were in the Premier League at the time, to a goalless draw across the 90 minutes.
The Saddlers slipped to their first defeat of the new season on Saturday after losing 1-0 against Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium.
Vincent Harper, Dan Cox and Ronan Maher are among the first team players yet to feature in a match day squad this term, but Sadler insists that the trip to Stoke will present him with a chance to utilise his squad.
"It'll be a completely different game on Tuesday as we're well aware. I'm sure both teams will make changes to their teams that played today," he said.
