Villa’s home Premier League match with Crystal Palace later this month has been moved back 48 hours after the visitors’ demotion to the Conference League was confirmed.

The teams had been due to meet on Friday, August 29 (kick-off 8pm) after being selected for live broadcast by Sky Sports.

But Palace’s move from the Europa League to the Conference League, after being found guilty of breaching Uefa’s multi-ownership rules, has forced a change.

The Eagles must now play the second leg of a play-off round tie on Thursday, August 28, meaning the match with Villa has been pushed back to Sunday, August 31 to allow them sufficient recovery time.

It will still be broadcast on Sky Sports, though at the amended kick-off time of 7pm.

Palace beat Villa 3-0 in last season’s FA Cup semi-final and then stunned Manchester City in the final to claim their first-ever major trophy.

Oliver Glasner’s team then beat reigning Premier League champions Liverpool on penalties on Sunday to win the Community Shield.

Villa kick-off their Premier League season at home to Newcastle this Saturday (kick-off 12.30pm), with the match broadcast live on TNT Sports.
