Brought in by Sam Allardyce in Albion's struggles in the 2020/2021 campaign - the Arsenal graduate featured 12 times in the back end of the Premier League campaign.

He was one of a handful of late January additions - but despite putting up a fight the midfielder couldn't help Albion as they were relegated.

After being part of the last Albion side to compete in the Premier League, he had a season with Roma and then Southampton, on loan from Arsenal.

Then in 2023, he departed England to sign for Lyon where he has featured 73 times across two years.

He played over 40 games last year, and was one of their standout players as he featured at right back and in central midfield.

Lyon have endured a turbulent summer having been demoted to Ligue 2 due to financial issues before successfully appealing against the relegation.

Now they're back in Ligue 1 but they may have to do it without Maitland-Niles, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

According to reports, Everton have expressed an interest in the midfielder, who has two years to run on his deal. However, Galatasaray are also being credited with interest in the midfielder.
