The Stoke City youngster netted 18 goals in the first half of the campaign - as Walsall rose to the top of League Two and looked set on a course that would lead to promotion.

But Lowe's recall in January coincided with Walsall's slide down into the play-offs, that ultimately led to their play-off final defeat.

Lowe returned to Stoke in January and netted on his return - his only goal in ten games in the second half of the season.

Had he stayed at Walsall he may well have bagged more and helped them to promotion - but heading into the new campaign it looks as though he may be heading out on another loan switch.

According to new reports, Stockport County have made a move to take Lowe on loan for the rest of the season.

They are said to be facing competition from fellow League One rivals Huddersfield Town, with Lowe set to make the step up a division after his stellar goalscoring record for the Saddlers.
