Spanish club targeting Aston Villa star
Villa left-back Alex Moreno has emerged as a target for Girona this summer.
The 32-year-old Spaniard will be allowed to leave Villa Park this summer and has suitors in both Spain and Portugal.
Girona are the latest club to be linked with reports in Spain claiming they are initially exploring a loan move.
Their head coach, Michel, previously managed Moreno at Rayo Vallecano.
Moreno, who became Unai Emery’s first Villa signing when he joined from Real Betis for £13million in January 2023, spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest and is behind both Ian Maatsen and Lucas Digne in the pecking order.
Maatsen was signed from Chelsea for £37.5m last summer, while Villa are in talks over a new contract with France international Digne.
Goalkeeper Filip Marschall is on course to become the latest player to leave the club this summer.
The 22-year-old, who previously had loan spells at Crewe and MK Dons, is close to joining League Two Stevenage on a permanent deal.
Marschall made his sole senior appearance for Villa in a 1-1 Conference League draw with Zrinjski Mostar in December, 2023.
