Matt Maher: Thrilling Test series distracts from upheaval in domestic game
So engrossing has been the Test series between England and India it would be easy to miss some rather significant developments involving the domestic game.

The only thing brewing is the biggest shake-up of the County Championship in nearly a decade, with proposals to reduce the number of matches per season from 14 to 12. There are also plans to bring down the number of T20 Blast fixtures by a similar amount.
It is a story which has got far less fanfare than the last attempt to alter the red-ball season three years ago, when Andrew Strauss’ review calling for the number of matches to be brought down to 10 was rejected by the counties.
This time there is greater confidence of the amendment going through, particularly as a sizeable number of players seem to be in favour.
