Walsall midfielder Jamie Jellis charged for alleged betting offences
Walsall midfielder Jamie Jellis has been charged with misconduct by the FA for allegedly breaching betting rules.

The FA have released in a statement that it's "alleged Jellis breached the FA Rule E8 by placing 2,248 bets on football matches between April 30, 2019 and July 4, 2023".
Jellis has until Monday, July 28, to provide a response.
"We will be supporting Jamie throughout the process. The club will make no further comment at this stage," Walsall said in a short club statement.
The window in which the offences occurred pre-date his time with Walsall.
Jellis joined the Saddlers from non-league Tamworth for an undisclosed fee in January 2024, scoring seven goals and registering two assists in 57 appearances in all competitions.
The 24-year-old has featured four times for Walsall during pre-season, including in Tuesday's 3-2 defeat against Championship side Derby County at Bescot.
Since 2014, FA rules prohibit anyone associated with a club in the top eight tiers of English football to bet on any aspect of the game.
Prior to joining Tamworth permanently in the National League North in 2024, Jellis played for Aylesbury United, Tring Corinthians, Hitchin Town, Wingate & Finchley, Kings Langley and Hemel Hempstead, and also had a spell on Stevenage's books.
Earlier this month, former Shrewsbury, Cheltenham and Exeter striker Ryan Bowman was banned for 42 months for placing 6,397 bets over an eight-year period.
Southport boss Neil Danns was recently given a suspended six-month ban for past breaches and fined £1,000.
AFC Wimbledon striker Osman Foyo was charged last week by the FA after allegedly placing 252 bets between October 2023 and March 2025.
During his 18 months at Bescot, Jellis scored two memorable strikes, including a long-range volley in a 4-1 win at Grimsby Town, which was later voted League Two goal of the month for October 2024.
