'It is refreshing': Ryan Mason has said what every West Brom fan has been thinking
Ryan Mason came out with some pretty cutting but fair words last week - that may have taken some fans by surprise.
In a recent interview, the new Baggies boss said: "There are a few of the boys that are coming to a stage where they have been here a while and need to take more responsibility within the group.
"Not just on the pitch, but also off it. That's definitely something I want to put on the lads, because if I feel that from the players then it's only going to benefit us on the pitch."
Some were taken aback by how forthright he was with the comments. It wasn't digging players out - it was almost a rallying call on an issue that many fans have called out over recent seasons.
Aside from the campaign where they reached the play-offs under Carlos Corberan - responsibility and stepping up has been questioned among the Albion players for a number of years.
