Walsall youngster Ronan Maher is on loan at Tamworth.

Held behind closed doors at their Essington Training Ground, a close and even contest looked to be going the way of the non-league outfit when they went ahead six minutes from the end of normal time.

However, Walsall kept up their unbeaten pre-season campaign so far as they struck the equaliser three minutes later.

Charlie Lakin lashed home to draw his side level and that is how the scores remained.

Sadler put out a side that featured a number of young players, with Ronan Maher also included in the line-up from the start.

Jonny Stuttle led the line again and new boy Dan Cox also featured as a second half substitute.

Also involved was a trialist, which comes after Romaine Sawyers featured on trial in midweek for the Saddlers against Aston Villa.
