The initial sessions, Austria, the Dynamo Kyiv friendly. Mason will have picked up various different things throughout all of them.

And on Saturday it would have been no different, as Albion played in front of supporters for the first time this summer.

Between 1,500 and 2,000 fans travelled to Bloomfield Road to see Albion beaten 2-1 against Blackpool. Here Jonny Drury looks at five things Mason may have learned.

Left back issue?

There is no doubting Callum Styles' technical ability - he is one of those highly rated by his fellow Albion players.

However, we may have seen a slight issue there at Bloomfield Road.

You can see from the signing of Nat Phillips that Albion want commanding defenders, ball winners who can also play.

Styles can play but he sometimes lacks the other side of that came.

The first goal against Blackpool showed that. Styles was decent last season and did a credible job at the back.

But given Albion have been linked with a left back in the window, it may be an area that has been targeted by Mason and whose behind the scenes.

Midfield sitters

Ousmane Diakite is going to get plenty of game time this pre-season, owning to Jayson Molumby's ban from last summer.
