The 31-year-old, beaten inside 80 seconds when suffering the first defeat of his professional career to David Adeleye last December, has accepted a late call to fight on the undercard of Daniel Dubois and Oleksandr Usyk’s world title showdown.

Dacres will take on Usyk’s fellow Ukrainian Vladyslav Sirenko over 10 rounds knowing victory would fling him back into the spotlight after his brief, bruising outing against Adeleye.

Sirenko had been due to face his countryman Andrii Novytskyi but when the latter pulled out, Dacres did not hesitate to accept the offer of replacing.

“We had to take the opportunity,” he told DAZN. “I would not take the fight if I did not think I was going to win it.
