Walsall boss Mat Sadler opens up on "tough" Donervon Daniels decision
Mat Sadler admits it was a "tough" decision to release former Walsall captain Donervon Daniels at the end of last season.
Daniels was let go by the Saddlers alongside young goalkeeper George Barrett, midfielder Jack Earing and striker Danny Johnson.
The 31-year-old made 115 appearances during his three-and-a-half year stay at Walsall after arriving in January 2022 - registering four goals and four assists.
He was handed a contract extension by Sadler in 2023 but saw his final 18 months at Bescot marred by a number of injury problems.
Injury restricted him to just eight appearances in all competitions last term and Sadler hopes Daniels can kick-start his career after joining League Two rivals Oldham Athletic this summer.
