Fans have been calling for Trivela and Co to show accountability and take ownership of the situation. Ben Boycott, Leigh Pomlett and Ben Sadler did exactly that.

Boycott mentioned that in his opening gambit. The American admitted: "I'm the ultimate leader of the organisation so responsibility for that comes down to me. I take responsibility and accountability for it. We're also committed to learning lessons from it and getting better."

Leigh Pomlett claimed he was unable to sleep for a week after the Saddlers' 1-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.

Ben Sadler highlighted the positives of the campaign overall, but also acknowledged the failures of the second half of the season.

In terms of the lessons learned, the proof will ultimately be in the pudding next season.
