West Brom's Championship rivals Sheffield Wednesday have seen their financial crisis deepen - with several players set to rip up their contracts.

Players have been in a battle with the club's ownership over unpaid wages, and this week it was revealed the club had failed to play senior players on time for the third occasion in the last four months.

Only under 21 players received their June wages on time.

Now it has been claimed that several players have signalled their intentions to rip up their contracts and leave as free agents this month.

According to FIFA regulations, any player who has not received their salary on the correct date for two consecutive months can terminate their contract by giving their employer written notice.

The club then have 15 days to regain control of any players' contract by paying the outstanding money.

It has also been reported that a number of players have reacted to the latest delay by handing in their notices.

The club have since written to players offering an apology and claimed they will fulfil all outstanding payments, but no timeline has been given.

The news of the notices is sure to have put a host of clubs on alert for Wednesday's more prized assets.

Earlier in the window, it was claimed West Brom were keen on stalwart Barry Bannan, but those claims were wide of the mark.

Elsewhere, star man Josh Windass has been the subject of much speculation in recent years, and in past seasons Albion were credited with interest in the forward.
