Aston Villa confirm first summer signing after successful striker swoop
Villa have confirmed their first signing of the summer in the shape of free agent striker Zepiqueno Redmond.
The 19-year-old Netherlands youth international has formally completed his move following the expiry of his contract at Feyenoord.
Villa saw off competition from European rivals in convincing Redmond to join with the player signing a four-year contract.
A product of Feyenoord’s academy, Redmond was a prolific goalscorer in youth football who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at senior level in 2024-25, playing against both AC Milan and Inter Milan in last year’s Champions League.
More recently he led the line as the Dutch won last month’s European under-19 Championships.
Feyenoord offered him improved terms to remain in Holland but the player made clear his desire to leave.
Redmond agreed terms on his Villa contract in May and underwent a medical, with the deal officially going through on Tuesday.
His ability to play across the forward line is thought to have been of particular appeal to boss Unai Emery, who is expected to run the rule over the new man in pre-season.
Redmond's arrival comes on the same day Villa announced their first sale of the summer, with Kaine Kesler-Hayden joining Coventry for a fee approaching £5million.
Forward Louie Barry is another player who will be allowed to depart but his proposed £3.5m switch to Hull is in danger of collapse, while Villa are still working to terminate the contract of playmaker Philippe Coutinho.
