Walsall striker Jamille Matt signs contract extension
Walsall forward Jamille Matt has signed a one-year contract extension with the club.
The 35-year-old, who arrived from Forest Green Rovers in January 2023, scored 12 times in 53 games across all competitions last term.
In total, Matt has netted 20 goals in 106 appearances for the Saddlers across his two-and-a-half seasons at Bescot.
“I delighted sign a new deal with the club,” Matt said after signing on the dotted line.
“I love playing for this football club and playing in front of the Saddlers fans.
“It’s something I wanted to continue and I am excited to help the team with my experience in the coming season.”
The experienced frontman surpassed 100 goals in the Football League with a brace during Walsall's 5-1 win over Tranmere Rovers, which set a club record eight-match winning streak, on January 11.
Matt also reached over 500 professional appearances during the previous campaign, which ended in a 1-0 defeat against AFC Wimbledon in the League Two play-off final at Wembley.
His decision to pen fresh terms comes just 24 hours after 37-year-old Albert Adomah committed his future to the club for the 2025-26 season.
Walsall youngster Ronan Maher also signed a new two-year deal last week.
Meanwhile, Sam Hornby, Harry Williams, Priestley Farquharson and Douglas James-Taylor are yet to put pen to paper over a new contract, with their current deals set to expire on July 1.
Donervon Daniels, Liam Gordon, Oisin McEntee, Ryan Stirk, Jack Earing and Danny Johnson have all departed the club since the end of the season.
