Birmingham League cricket round-up: Smethwick cruise to victory
Deepak Khatri took seven wickets as Smethwick cruised to a vital win at home to Halesowen in the Birmingham & District Premier Cricket League Premier Division One.
The visitors bat first but never got going as Khatri time and again got the better of them.
A half century from Wesley Griffiths was the highlight for Halesowen, while Yasir Ali, Abubakar Muhammad and Mohammed Usman Tahir also all took one wicket each.
Halesowen finished all out from 46.3 overs with just 124 runs and Smethwick made easy work of their target.
Rawait Khan managed 37 runs before being bowled out by Masihullah Qazkhill.
Khatri and Viken Kedariya then teamed up to make short work of Halesowen's effort with 22 and 69 runs respectively.
Smethwick finished on 128-1 after 17.5 overs, winning the match comfortably by nine wickets.
