West Midlands win promotion to the Championship
West Midlands clinched promotion to the UK Darts Association Championship after a convincing 21-15 victory at Leicestershire.
The Men’s B team finished as champions after a 7-5 win, where Ash Khayat, Rob Thompson, Dean Fullwood, Shane Price, Cameron Baird, Martin Price and Will Beaden did the damage.
The Women’s Bs lost 4-2 despite wins from Hannah Davies and Jodie Rowlands, before the Women’s A side then gained a very important 4-2 victory courtesy of Kat McLean, Jackie Trott, Evonne Taylor and Jackie Maiden.
The Men’s As completed an 8-4 win to gain promotion with wins from Rich Platt, Jon Platt, Jack Aldridge, Gavin Baker, Callum Parkes, Ryan O’Connor, Dan Nicholls and Paul Price.
In the Tettenhall Wednesday Singles, Junction B’s Richard Newey clinched the title by defeating Junction A’s Dan Fellows 3-1 in the final.
Newey ousted Dave Gamble 2-1 in semi-finals, while Fellows beat Paul Bromley 2-0. In the quarter-finals, Conner Lucas, Dave Smith, Jay Moon and Joe Cook all lost.
Staffs Knot’s Dickie Foster hit the ‘big fish’ 170 checkout during his side’s 3-2 victory over Gilberts A in the West Midlands Super League. Martin Price, Jamie Hughes and Shane Price made up Knot’s winners.
Dog & Partridge came from 2-0 down to defeat Junction A 3-2 thanks to Wayne Jones, Gavin Baker and Ryan O’Connor, while Dudley Ex had a great 4-1 victory over Cottage Spring with Cameron Baird, Lee Hodgkiss, Glen McGrandle and Ian Jones winning.
Evonne Taylor made it 28 games unbeaten in the West Midlands Ladies Super League after winning both 3-0, while Jackie Maiden climbed to second, winning 3-1 and 3-0.
Jackie Trott, Tara Simmons-Fullwood and Sarah Barrett all enjoyed two victories each, Kelly Dolman won three matches 3-1, 3-2 and 3-2, and further victories were recorded by Kat McLean, Jodie Rowlands and Chloe Woodman.
Quarry Bank Libs remain one point ahead at the top of the Black Country Super League after defeating Soccer Zone A 3-2 through Phil Whitlock, George Willetts and Nick Fullwell.
Allens A moved into second after crushing High Acres 5-0 with Dan Nicholls, Shane Price, Will Beaden, Jack Aldridge and Ryan O’Connor doing the damage.
Dudley Ex remain unbeaten after defeating Allens B 4-1 thanks to Harry Williams, Jamie Rollinson, Tom Bissell and Mark Rollinson.
