Hednesford Town have moved one step closer to the completion of their 'world-leading' pitch at Keys Park.

The final piece of the Formavoid system, which is an advanced layer to help manage water, airflow and root development, was laid earlier this week.

In a project spearhead by club partner SEL Environment, the new surface will represent one of the most advanced pitch systems in the country - evolving beyond the technology installed at Everton's brand new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

Last season, Gavin Hurren inspired Hednesford to promotion into the seventh-tier via a 2-0 victory over Congleton Town in their play-off final in front of nearly 5,000 spectators at Key Park.

And club CEO Marvin Robinson believes the recent investment in the new surface matches the lofty ambitions of the club.

"We're not just building a pitch - we're building a platform for ambition," he said.

"This is about setting new standards in non-league football. The technology we’re installing here isn’t just world-class – it’s future-focused, supports elite performance and has sustainability at its core.

“This is a statement of intent. Hednesford Town is serious about growth, serious about innovation, and serious about becoming the benchmark for non-league excellence.”
