The 18-year-old, who joined Walsall aged 10, gained senior experience in the non-league game during loan stints at Hereford Pegasus, Stratford Town and Farsley Celtic.

Kilroy has also been involved in first team training during his scholarship and was voted Apprentice of the Year for the 2024-25 season.

"It's a great moment for my family and I," Kilroy said. "Walsall is like a second home to me. I've been here since I was 10 and I've worked through all the age groups.

"Loads of ups and downs and I'm really proud that I'm extending my stay. I think it's the best place for me to nurture my talent and hopefully kick on into the first team.

"I'm delighted to get to this point where I'm offered a professional contract at Walsall."

Walsall took the decision to release George Barrett at the end of the season, with Kilroy likely to step-up in the goalkeeping department next season.

Boss Mat Sadler is pleased to offer him his first professional deal, but insists that the hard work starts now.

Sadler said: "Jenson has worked extremely hard over the last two years of his scholarship to earn this chance so we're delighted to offer him that.

"He now starts the next part of his development and the next part of his learning. He's made great strides but the work starts now.

Academy manager Rob Williams added that his pro deal is rich rewards for his hard work both on and off the pitch.

"In the three years I've known him, Jenson has worked very hard both on and off the pitch, maintaining high performance levels on a consistent basis," Williams said.

"“He also enjoyed a large period of his second year on loan gaining valuable experience around the adult game.

“Everyone in the academy is very proud to see him sign his first professional contract with the club.”
