Jack Earing joins League Two rivals after Walsall departure
Former Walsall midfielder Jack Earing has joined League Two rivals Barrow on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.
The 26-year-old, who arrived from Halifax Town in 2021, scored nine goals and set-up seven more in 114 appearances during his four seasons at Walsall.
Earing was released by the club at the end of the 2024-25 season alongside Donervon Daniels and Danny Johnson.
The midfielder will join up with Mat Sadler's close friend Andy Whing, who took over the Bluebirds earlier this season, at Holker Street.
“With the squad we’ve got already, I know we’re capable of competing at the top end of the table," he told Barrow's club channel.
“Having played against Barrow in the past, I know it’s such a difficult team to play against, and hopefully I can add a bit of quality to the team.”
His stint with the Saddlers was marred by injury including an 11-month absence due to a serious knee injury in 2023.
He did return to play a starring role in the second half of the 2023-24 campaign - scoring in back-to-back games upon his return in wins over Wrexham and Grimsby Town respectively either side of New Year.
Injury struck again towards the end of the campaign, with a hamstring injury keeping him out of the final eight games.
Earing had to settle for cameos from the bench for much of the previous campaign, with both Jamie Jellis and Charlie Lakin ahead of him in the pecking order.
He still proved a decent impact player, mostly notably scoring twice in a 4-0 drubbing of Colchester United at Bescot in September last year.
However, Earing suffered an ankle injury in a 2-0 win over Newport County in the final game of 2024 and ultimately missed the rest of the season.
