Walsall defender suffers defeat for Republic of Ireland under-21s
Walsall defender David Okagbue started for Republic of Ireland under-21s as they fell to a 1-0 defeat against Croatia in an international friendly in Vrbovec.
Fabijan Krivak scored the only goal with a deflected effort from range to secure victory for hosts Croatia in the second half.
Okagbue, who made 54 appearances for Walsall in all competitions last term, completed the full 90 minutes on his third cap for the under-21s.
Ex-Walsall loanee Darius Lipsiuc also played the first 66 minutes, although Ronan Maher did not receive a call-up for the Boys in Green.
Ireland will conclude the latest international break against a Qatar under-23 side on Tuesday, before focus switches to their Euro 2027 qualification opener against Moldova in September.
