Monmore track record is broken once again
The phenomenal Mongys Wild smashed the clock once again to win the £20,000 Premier Greyhound Racing Golden Jacket final at Monmore Green.
Having broken the 684m track record – which had stood for 22 years – in the semi-finals with a time of 40.54secs, the Mark Wallis-trained superstar was even quicker this past Saturday night as he romped home in 40.42secs for a thoroughly-deserved success.
Radical Scoby (Maxine Locke, Romford) started strongly in the final and led until the fifth bend, when Mongys Wild put on the afterburners on a fast track to win by almost seven lengths.
Wallis and the MWD Partnership – who also had Bombay Nutty finish well to take second place – have a ‘truly special’ greyhound in Mongys Wild according to Monmore racing manager Tony Williamson.

“Mongys Wild is a truly special dog and a big congratulations goes to Wallis and the team on what was another amazing performance in the final,” said Williamson. “When you have witnessed so many races involving great greyhounds over the years, it can be hard to get excited at times, but wow!
“Mongys Wild is the best I’ve seen in a long while and a genuinely good thing for the sport.
“It’s been a pleasure to host the Golden Jacket, and we have an outstanding champion. Mongys Wild is a superstar.”
Wallis also claimed one of three £1,000 Category Three finals on the night as Ballinakill Liam took the spoils in the Ladbrokes.com 264 Final.
Nathan Hunt’s Newinn Oscar was victorious in the Ladbrokes.com 480 while Santas Amigo (David Mullins, Romford) impressed in the Ladbrokes.com 480 Puppy.
