West Brom ace determined to prove doubters wrong
Winger Mikey Johnston is confident Albion can prove doubters wrong in their late pursuit of a play-off spot.
The Republic of Ireland international netted just his third goal of the season to help Albion to a priceless 2-1 victory over Watford at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
It was a vital three points for Tony Mowbray's men after three consecutive defeats and has reignited a play-off charge ahead of a crunch clash at rivals Coventry on Friday.
For the Baggies to leapfrog their CBS Arena hosts they must win just a second away game since mid-September. September 21 was also the last time the side managed back-to-back victories - and Johnston stresses now is the time for Albion to prove they have character by ousting those unwanted records.
"If we go and win a few now and get in the play-offs - we know we can beat anyone," former Celtic winger Johnston said.
"We've (only) lost one out of the games against the top four this season, so we know we can go toe-to-toe against all of the top teams."
"It's good for the confidence," Johnston added of seeing out the victory over Watford after recent late collapses. "There have been games where we feel we definitely should have won and it's just gone the other way where we haven't had a bit of rub of the green.
