The 21-year-old, who already holds four Paralympic gold medals, said she will be doing her best to achieve another medal in the race scheduled for 11.39 tonight.

Simmonds said after qualifying with the new games record: "I really enjoyed that.

"It's going to be a very, very tough race tonight but I'm really looking forward to it.

"It helps seeing your team-mates do well but here I just want to go out and swim personal bests and give it everything I've got.

"If it's a medal, it's a medal - it's a bonus but I've already achieved my dream of winning four golds and I'm just going to go out there and swim my best tonight."
