Transfer Rumours - July 6
Expressandstar.com bring you all of the latest transfer talk from Wolves, West Brom, Aston Villa and Walsall.
We are not saying they are true – just that they are out there.
WOLVES
Rumours of a takeover at Wolves have got the fans talking in their droves and could move them into pole position to land Manchester United striker Ashley Fletcher.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino was thought to have stolen a march, by agreeing to meet the player's £7,000-per-week wage demands and pay a compensation fee.
Their league cohorts are queuing up to take the 20-year-old, including his last loan club Barnsley. West Ham and Bristol City have also been linked to him.
Fletcher has turned down a contract offer at Old Trafford and appears to be leaving permanently, so Wolves' growing ambitions might work in their favour.
WEST BROM
West Brom and new Premier League rivals Burnley are ready to test Leeds' resolve to keep hold of their highly-rated defender Liam Cooper this summer.
The 24-year-old, who can play at both central defence and left-back, captained the Whites in the Championship for a large part of the last campaign.
New Leeds boss Garry Monk is reluctant to let him go, though, with left-back Charlie Taylor also expected to leave Elland Road during this close season.
ASTON VILLA
Aston Villa are apparently close to completing a £5million swoop for Italian goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini, who wants to leave relegated Hellas Verona in his homeland.
Gollini has already had a spell in England following his apprenticeship with Manchester United, but failed to make an impression before being moved on to Verona.
The 21-year-old is keen for another crack on our shores and Villa are prepared to meet the asking price, as they look for an instant promotion from the Championship.
Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo is a countryman of Gollini's and appears to have cooled his interest in Watford shot-stopper Costel Pantilimon, due to his wage demands.
The Romania international, 29, may not accept a cut on his current £50,000-a-week terms and may continue serving out the remaining three years of his Hornets deal.
WALSALL
Walsall boss Jon Whitney has also confirmed that the club are not looking to bring back Michael Cain this summer.
The 21-year-old's contract at Premier League champions Leicester City has ended. He spent most of the 2014-15 camapaign with the Saddlers, under previous manager Dean Smith.
