Known as a speedy winger and an accurate crosser of the ball, Cornbill joined Coventry City in 1958 from Boldmere St Michaels.

He turned professional in January 1959 and, although he never made a first-team appearance for the Sky Blues, was a regular in their reserves.

After leaving Coventry, Cornbill spent two seasons at Lockhead Leamington, and one season at Tamworth, before a short stint with Nuneaton Borough. Spells with Harriers and the Pitmen then followed.

Born in Kingstanding, he lived in Telford after retiring from football.

He passed away on October 13.

The Coventry City Former Players Association, of which Cornbill was a member, have paid tribute.

A post on their website read: "Rest in Peace Ken."
