Chris Sterling then played in Chris Rabone, whose shot lacked power.
The visitors then took over, Tim Grice heading against the bar and Niall Maguire scoring from 20 yards. Seconds later Grice had an effort ruled offside, but he made no mistake with a header from Dan Cope's superb cross.
On 77 minutes Sterling halved the deficit following Alex Fletcher's through ball, but there was to be no equaliser.
