Sandwell Steelers are looking for ladies
Sandwell Steelers women's American football team are planning a pre-Christmas recruitment drive.
The Steelers are beginning their preparations for their second season of action and the upcoming Sapphire Series that kicks off in February.
The club's men's side enjoyed a hugely successful campaign this year as they gained promotion with a perfect record of 13 wins from 13 games and now the ladies are looking to swell their playing ranks.
The games are five-a-side full contact clashes on a reduced-size playing area and the Steelers team is open to women from the age of 17.
Samantha Wilson, general manager of the women's team, said: "The Sandwell Steelers women's american football club was started in 2013 following the success of our senior and youth teams.
"We encourage girls of all shapes and sizes to come and try out a new sport and while it's not for everyone, nearly all of the girls that have come to try it out have stayed and developed so much in the sport.
"At the moment we are concentrating on five verses five full contact games, until we have a few more girls to then start moving into 11 verses 11 contact football.
"We are recruiting all the time, and are constantly fundraising for more equipment for our team."
The team's training sessions take place every Sunday from 1-3pm at Tipton Sports Academy.

The men's side will be celebrating their promotion-winning campaign with an awards night at the Solvay Function Suite in Oldbury on November 20.
