Gordon wants to use Saddlers' blueprint
Kidderminster Harriers' stand-in boss Colin Gordon wants to replicate the success of Walsall.
The Saddlers have inspired fans in recent times, reaching the Football League Trophy final at Wembley last season and securing a home tie with Chelsea in the Capital One Cup.
Gordon wants to use their success as a model for Kidderminster to try to replicate, in terms of being able to achieve success in their division on a limited budget.
He also wants to rid of the notion of having to play direct football and replace it with a more intricate, passing game in the National League which he feels his players will benefit from.
He said: "If we can get closer to what Dean Smith and Richard O'Kelly have done at Walsall then that would be great.
"They are our role models at the moment and prove you don't have to have a big budget to do well.
"We are trusted by Premier League clubs to develop their players, the likes of Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion, and we need to repay that faith by playing a brand of premier football ourselves.
"We are going to be coming up against teams that are very direct but we want to play entertaining football. It is the way forward for the club and for the players.
"We have got have professionalism all the way through the club, we don't want a non-league standard of coaching.
"We need professional coaching for our professional players, it's about providing an enjoyable place for the players to come and work.
"To create a philosophy that Kidderminster Harriers are a club who likes to play football, that is what we want to do and want to create."
Colin Gordon takes charge of Harriers for the second time tomorrow as they travel to Barrow – who won 2-1 at Macclesfield last time out.
