Ex-Baggie McNally back as Pitmen boss
Hednesford Town have re-appointed former Albion and Northern Ireland star Bernard McNally as their manager.
McNally, 52, arrives at Keys Park for a second stint in charge after serving as boss in the 2009/2010 campaign.
He replaces Rob Smith and Larry Chambers, who both left the Pitmen to return to AFC Telford United over a week ago.
"It's exciting, no doubt about that." McNally said.
"I want to have some longevity here now and I'm looking at the next three to four years as we look to get the club and the team moving in the right direction.
"As soon as I heard about the vacancy I was in straight away for it. It is a big job and a big club that has a lot of nostalgia."
Hednesford caretaker manager Chris Brindley will take up a new role as assistant boss as McNally looks to continue the club's promising form since the departure of Smith and Chambers.
A club statement said: "The new management team will bring much needed continuity and is felt to exhibit the best combination of skills and experience to take the club forwards at this stage of the season.
"McNally is an experienced and highly-qualified coach whose skills on the training ground will complement perfectly Chris Brindley's knowledge of the squad and of The National League North division."
McNally made nearly 300 appearances for his home town club before Albion paid £385,000 for him in 1989, where he played for six years.
He also picked up five Northern Ireland caps and was included in the 1986 World Cup squad.
The midfielder then spent two seasons playing at Keys Park. After retiring, he was offered a route back into the game by the reformed outfit AFC Telford, winning a play-off final in his time at New Bucks Head.
He was appointed Keys Park boss in 2009, guiding the Pitmen to the Southern Division play-offs semi-finals.
