Gornal chase national success
Gornal Girls Under-15s will be flying the flag for Dudley tomorrow when they take part in a prestigious event in Leicester.
The talented youngsters are representing the borough in the National ACES Tournament where they will face some of the best teams from around the country.
Sides from Bristol, Yeovil, Derby, Hull, Leeds, Scunthorpe, Oxford, Cambridge along with last year's winners, Hull outfit East Riding, are set to battle it out for the silverware.
"It is a very strong competition and some of the best sides in the country will be competing," said assistant boss Dean Price.
"We were vetted by the organisers to make sure we were strong enough to compete so we are expecting the standard to be very high.
"The girls are both nervous and excited and hopefully we will do well.
Gornal will head east on the back of another impressive campaign that saw them finish runners-up to Wolves in the Premier Division of the Central Warwickshire League.
It's the second year running the girls, who play their home games at Coneygre in Tipton, have finished second in the top flight having won the First Division title in the first season after switching from the Stourbridge League.
